Schedule
Day 1: Khe Sanh Town – Kilometer 17 of the Western Ho Chi Minh Trail – Formosan gum Forest – Rao Quan Lake
At 11:00 AM, our tour guide will pick you up in the Khe Sanh town area and take you to the lunch spot. After refueling with a delicious lunch, listening to the tour itinerary, and safety regulations, signing a Release form, and receiving necessary safety equipment, the van will take you to kilometer 17 of the Western Ho Chi Minh Trail, where the Formosan gum forest appears like a romantic natural painting. Here, the group will begin a 9.5km hiking journey to admire the vibrant red formosan gum forest, with the emerald Rao Quan lake and wind turbine fields hidden in the distance. The terrain here is quite easy to navigate.
After about four hours of walking and hiking, you will be equipped with life jackets, and a motorboat will take the whole group to the campsite located in the middle of the poetic Rao Quan lake.
Arriving at the campsite in the late afternoon, you will be assigned a tent, change clothes for swimming and paddle boarding, enjoy the beautiful sunset, and take awesome photos.
Dinner will be prepared immediately afterward by talented local chefs. Specialties such as salt-crusted grilled catfish, sticky rice, and jumping shrimp will surely excite your taste buds. At curfew, the whole group will go to sleep and rest for the second day’s journey.
Day 2: Rao Quan Lake – Ta Puong Waterfall – Khe Sanh Town
Waking up in the morning, the group will refuel with a delicious breakfast and enjoy morning coffee with wild and romantic scenery. You can choose to paddleboard to watch the sunrise or relax on a chair and go fishing. Afterward, the whole group will pack up their belongings, get on a boat to return to the parking lot, and prepare to depart for the most anticipated destination of the second day – Ta Puong Waterfall. After a half-hour drive, the group will arrive at Trang Ta Puong village.
Passing through peaceful stilt houses, the group begins to walk along the romantic stream to Ta Puong waterfall, hidden in the vast wilderness. The feeling of immersing yourself in pristine nature, listening to the birds singing and the stream flowing will bring you unforgettable experiences. Lunch will be served with sticky rice and grilled BBQ prepared by the local people.
After refueling, you will be equipped with safety belts, helmets, gloves, and specialized abseiling equipment to start conquering the majestic Ta Puong waterfall. Under the enthusiastic guidance of the tour guide and safety assistants, you will follow the rope system through the cool water, climb to the top of the waterfall, and start the unique abseiling experience, admiring the full view of the waterfall from above. At about 3 meters from the water surface, you will be instructed to jump freely into the cool water.
After successfully conquering this waterfall, the group will return to Trang Ta Puong village, and the car will be ready to take you back to Khe Sanh town, ending a perfect two-day one-night exploration journey.

Food
All meals during the tour are prepared by the team of cooks and porters. The ingredients are carefully selected and prepared deliciously, with rich flavors. You can refer to the menu below:
Day 1:
- Lunch: Rice, braised fish, boiled pork, pickled mustard greens and bean sprouts, stir-fried vegetables, fried eggs, sour soup, bottled water.
- Dinner: BBQ party, grilled chicken with chili salt, grilled snakehead fish, grilled pork belly, grilled meat in bamboo tubes, grilled vegetables, 1 unit of drink, fruits, minced pork porridge (late-night snack).
Day 2:
- Breakfast: Beef flavored instant noodles.
- Lunch: Black glutinous rice, grilled stream fish, grilled meat skewers, boiled bamboo shoots, fresh herbs.
Campsites
Tent
You will be staying in tents provided by Dai Moc Travel, and a scented bag. The guarantees that you will enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep after a day of diverse activities.
Shower
The campsite is set up in the Rao Quan hydroelectric lake area, where the water is mostly clean and clear all year round. You can freely swim and bathe here. Our safety assistants will always be available to assist you in any situation.
With the aim of protecting the natural environment, you are not allowed to use shampoo or shower gel with chemical ingredients on Jungle Boss tours. We provide biodegradable and environmentally friendly shampoo on the tour.
Toilet
The Company uses composting toilets on the tour. The toilet is set up in a toilet tent, inside there will be a toilet with a standard seat and a bucket for waste. After using the toilet, you use the prepared rice husk and sprinkle it into the bucket to prevent bacteria and odor. Toilet paper and dry hand sanitizer are placed right next to it. Each toilet tent has a scented bag to deodorize and create a pleasant scent. Please always use this toilet; urinating and defecating outdoors is not allowed.
